Heating Time vs Temperature in Acrylic Bending
Share
Heating time and temperature work together. A higher setting is not always faster: it can overheat the surface before the sheet center is soft enough, especially on thick material.
Why it matters
The goal is uniform softening through the bending zone. Thin sheets need a short, controlled cycle; thick sheets often benefit from more time at a stable setting. Material color and formulation also affect heat absorption.
Practical checklist
· Use the lowest stable process that meets cycle and quality needs.
· Check the full bend length for even softness.
· Do not chase speed until the first-part quality is stable.
Which machine fits?
The machines offer controlled heating lanes from a 200-1500 W system according to the brochures. Actual settings should come from material trials and the operating manual.
Frequently asked question
Can heating time be copied from another supplier's sheet?
Use it only as a starting point. Verify every new grade, color and thickness with an offcut.
Always test a small offcut and follow the machine manual, material safety information and local rules.
