Why Does Acrylic Turn White After Bending?

Acrylic often turns white when the bend is forced before the material is heated evenly, or when the heated zone is too narrow for the required radius. Stress, moisture and poor cooling can also contribute.
1.Why it matters
Whitening is usually a sign of internal stress or micro-cracking. The solution is not simply more heat. The operator must balance temperature, heating time, bend radius and support so the sheet softens through its thickness without overheating the surface.
2.Practical checklist
· Heat both sides when a thick sheet or tight bend requires it.
· Increase the bend radius if the design allows.
· Hold the part in position until the bend becomes stable.
3.Which machine fits?
The brochure describes controlled heating and a 10-70 mm arc range for both machines. Use a wider combined heating zone for large arcs.

Can a white bend be repaired?
Minor haze may improve with process changes on the next part, but stressed or cracked material should normally be remade.
